AMCAD’s Rapid Online Access Method (ROAM)® based on Smart Data Layer technology, makes available a line of business application’s structured databases (irrespective of underlying technology) much like an Internet Search Engine does with unstructured data. ROAM’s power lies in the fact that – in as much as it is a search tool – it is also an integration tool, a data mining tool and a business intelligence tool. All the more, implementation is in ‘web time’ and cost is ‘low’. ROAM can access most common databases, index all the data and make it available via a web browser or as a web service (in XML format). ROAM provides sophisticated and optimized ranking along with a wide range of data analyzers. Each data source can be treated differently by configuration of the ROAM product, to get the most value out of it. Accessing silo databases across departments now is easier, with a single technology solution. For more information see the ROAM Case Study.

Data once liberated from line of business applications can be used to its potential. The ease of access provided by ROAM to any database can be used to significantly improve citizen and business services, and provide a unified view of all local government data (with security remaining a prime consideration).  Access to data puts the power back in the hands of the local IT department. Being held hostage by a single vendor or inadequate technology soon becomes a problem of the past. ROAM offers the ability to rapidly index data from any industry standard database. How the data is used once it is indexed is virtually limitless and can be configured and driven by local IT departments.
